I am a Scholar now.
It has been well over 2 years and i have to say keeping up with my studies has made all the difference I am a scholar know :)
I have finished my English requirements for transferring to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, I am slowly working my way through school while keeping up with many different types of jobs, from selling phones to washing dishes and being a busboy.
Most recently I have been working at the junior college that I am attending and it has been a great learning experience. I have learned the ins and outs of how the school system works as well as how to seek help from others with homework. When I need to study I have learned how to find information in the school library, local library and around my community. Did you know you can call a Library and ask them any question and they will tell you the answer, its just like google but old school I guess.
I have received many scholarships writing essays about my life and all the different types of hardships I have overcome. Its neat to know that there are people out there that can see in your writing how much someone has grown and can understand a person's difficulties, as well as their life's achievements.
Any ways I'm still in school working my way through, and my wife is also attending school and she is doing great she went from not speaking any english to knowing a whole lot and then joining the school board to save the classes that teach immigrants how to speak english, and she has saved the program (Yay!), everyone was pleased. She has moved one to becoming a medical receptionist with hopes of becoming a nurse one day.
Sometimes we have to take things slow and not rush them, I know first hand that many people out there can go full time to junior college and go get a job off the back but those of us who take our time and continue to grow as a person, by learning more about responsibility. We give are self more time to mature and handle more task than anyone.
For those of you reading this may all your hopes and dreams never die and may you find a way to go into the world and achieve those hopes and dreams and make them reality, no matter what difficulties you may face, because there is no mountain too high to climb.
